Blacktown Block Party

On Saturday 30 April, Blacktown’s Leo Kelly Arts Centre welcomed some of the best of Western Sydney’s creative talent to the ‘Blacktown Block Party.’ The day brought unity after a disruptive time for the arts industry during the pandemic. There were streetwear markets, creative workshops and an array of musical and dance performances, including an all-style breakdancing competition, for everyone to enjoy. It was a celebration of diversity, with Ghanaian musicians Yaw & Friends excited to be back drumming for a large audience. “We haven’t seen each other for a while and getting into the community and giving back is really something we’re passionate about,” they said.
